THE MESSINES ROAD I
The road that runs up to Messines
None ever go up to Messines,
II
Choked with wild weeds, and overgrown,
And in the dark the broken trees,
Yet here the farmer drove his cart.
Here schoolboys lingered in the way,
A goodly road for simple needs.
III
The road that runs up to Messines
But we shall go up to Messines |
